Cagney's Restaurant, located at 1244 Fairview Drive in Lexington near N.C. Highway 8 South, will tentatively open in mid-June. The restaurant will be stationed in the old Barbecue House restaurant location.

This will be the fourth location in the Cagney's group. There are affiliated restaurants in Winston-Salem, Kernersville and Midway, serving all types of cuisine from Southern to Greek and everything in between.

Ervin Lekaj, part owner, moved to North Carolina about four years ago from St. Louis, Mo. He loves living here with his wife and two sons. Lekaj works in the front of the restaurant as well as the back, saying he was no stranger to the food industry.

"I grew up in the restaurant business and came from the old country," Lekaj said, speaking of his birthplace, Albania.

When the opportunity arose for the Midway location, Lekaj's friend and now colleague contacted him to see if he would be interested in a partnership. The Lexington location was just one more step in the partnership.

"(Lexington) needs a restaurant like Cagney's down there, and we wanted to expand," Lekaj said.

Lekaj's partners in the Lexington venture are George Lianaj and Tony Xhaferi. The group looks forward to its move into the old restaurant. Lekaj said the physical location was perfect for them, and the previous owners had it set up nice. The new owners have made a few adjustments and cleaned the facility. Now they look forward to opening day.

"I am hoping we're going to do well. It should be good," Lekaj said.

Hours of operation will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The Cagney's in Lexington can be reached at 300-7960.
